So Columbia tries to dissipate the crisis by announcing the creation of a chair of Israel studies. Today we learn from the
New York Sun that the university has placed two Palestinians, Rashid Khalidi and Lila Abu-Lughod, on the search committee. Khalidi, the Edward Said Professor, seems to support a one-state solution (and that state isn't Israel); Abu-Lughod is a Said-worshipping signer of Columbia's divestment petition. Is this any way to run a university? I offer details and full commentary in an
entry at
Sandstorm.
